Ingredients

  • 4 packages firm or extra firm tofu
  • Soy sauce, about 1 cup
  • Hoisin sauce, about 1/4 cup
  • Sesame oil, about 2 Tbsp
  • Siracha sauce, about 2 Tbsp (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drain tofu and let it sit on a plate for 10-30 minutes to drain additional water. Optionally press it if you want to remove more water, but probably not since this is lazy tofu.
  2. Mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and siracha sauce. Taste it and dilute with water or adjust ingredients to taste.
  3. Heat oven to 350F, convection if available.
  4. Slice each block into rectangles, about 6 pieces per block.
  5. Get 2 glass baking pans, enough to fit all tofu. Pour some sauce in the bottom. Place tofu in the pans. Pour more sauce on top. The sauce should cover about half way up the tofu.
  6. Bake for 15-25 minutes per side. The texture will still be a little soft, not fried, but it will absorb the sauce and flavor. Remove from oven when most of the sauce is reduced.
